One Weak to Live

At first, my book was intended to serve as my death journal that could potentially lead to my loved ones finding my suicide note. I told God that this would be my last chance on life. One morning I woke up and decided that I would give myself one week to find peace and happiness internally, and that I would do anything in my power to make a positive change during that week. I told God that if I did not feel a true change and release in my life, then I would end it on the seventh day. I basically made a subconscious decision to control my own life and determine my own destiny, and ignore God’s purpose and plan for my life. I decided that enough was enough, and I demanded change in one week, or my family would be attending my departure from this world. You see, I reached a point of frustration that I was too weak to overcome. I was tired of beating myself up over past hurts, bad decisions, broken promises, and insecurities. I felt trapped inside myself, with no way out.

I can remember lying prostrate on my living room floor, crying out to God for healing, deliverance, and restoration. I was just so stressed and tired of life but I could not pinpoint why. The devil had me fixated on every physical, mental, and emotional flaw. He replayed every bad choice that I ever made and every painful experience that I ever encountered. I was bound by self-torment and condemnation. It was almost as if my inner being was hibernating and had finally awakened. Everything that I buried down in my soul had been resurrected and the devil planned on destroying me, but I thank God that He had a different plan for my life.

God has a plan and purpose for your life. There is a reason that He created you specifically. He has a job position in mind that is just for you. Just like I know this and you know this, so does the devil. The devil’s purpose is to come after you with all that he has to keep you from getting to work on God’s plan for your life. The devil knows that if you tap into the divine purpose and will of God for your life, you cannot be stopped, because Revelation 12:11 tells us “We are overcomers by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony!”

The greatest wounds that we, as the body of Christ suffer from are self-inflicted. We cause more pain to ourselves than anyone or anything can cause in our lives. We have all been responsible for making decisions contrary to what we know is right for us. Many of the decisions that we find ourselves making are influenced by our feelings. It is human nature to operate according to our feelings and emotions. So many of us lose sight of our daily goals and purpose because we get caught up in how we feel for the moment. One thing that life has taught me is that no matter how I feel today or tomorrow, divine purpose does not change. The plan that God has for our lives remains the same; it is up to us to decide whether or not we obey and follow His plan. Once I surrendered to God and decided to stop running from the very calling that He designed me to fulfill, I began to realize that no one could complete my mission but me. God has riches and blessings in Heaven with your name on them. He is just waiting on you to trust Him so that you can receive everything that He has for your life.

When we find ourselves trapped in weak moments in our lives, it can seem impossible to rise out of those situations and be victorious, but remember God’s word when you feel like giving up. First John 4:4 says, “Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.” My friend, you have everything that you need inside of you to stand up and fight. I know things may look impossible right now, and I know that you feel that there is no way out. Just know that right when you feel like giving up, that is the moment that God is ready to step in and turn your situation around. Romans 8:28 reminds us that “All things work together for the good of those that love God and are called according to His purpose.” This is the time for you to shout because He has called you and you have a purpose, so that means that this too shall pass! God is working it out right now for you.

I learned that most of the time in my life, when I am faced with a situation and I feel totally defeated, this is when God is ready to create a masterpiece in my life. Matthew 17:20 says, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” All God wants us to have is faith the size of a teeny tiny mustard seed. In Mark 4:30, Jesus compares the Kingdom of God to a mustard seed. “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that birds can perch in its shade.”

You see, He created us and placed us in this world, so He knows what we as Christians face daily. He knows that there are times where we feel that it is impossible and we do not know if we are coming or going. This my brothers and sisters is why He only asked us to have just a little faith. Because we are His children, He knows all of the ins and outs and every fiber of our being. He knows that we need faith to kick in when we cannot see the answer with our natural eyes, and in that very moment, we are weak. He loves you just enough to not expect much faith when you are weak, because He knows what state you are in. His only requirement is that you put all of your trust in Him and have only a little faith. That’s the kind of God we serve!

I get so excited when I think of the power that comes from weakness. You may say “Well, Kim, what do you mean? How can power come from weakness?” I am so glad you asked. I have learned that if we were always strong, then there would be no need for faith. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” When we have faith, God can now step in and show off. When we are too weak to have an answer, and too feeble to fight, our faith that He will see us through gives Him the green light to go into our situation and show His power.

When I was at the point of no return, only God himself could strengthen me again and give me the ability to get up, dust myself off, and walk into my destiny. He found power in my weakness. I told my mom that God revealed to me that this was the very reason he placed me in her belly years ago. When I laid on my face and cried out to God and asked Him why I was reminded of my weaknesses and failures and pain, He led me to the scripture that is now my foundation; 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” My friends, when God gave me this revelation, I started to shout. So right there in that very moment, he took everything that the devil meant for evil and used it for good. I gave all of my pains, insecurities, hardships, weaknesses and failures to Him, and HE showed up mighty and strong in my life and gave me the power to come out of the very things that the devil tried to destroy me with. Just like Paul, every day I now boast about the thorn in my flesh. I constantly give my weaknesses to God and ask that He step in on my behalf and fight my battles. When we are weak, God’s strength is made perfect. I have total faith that He will see me through every situation or circumstance that is too hard for me.

The thorns in our flesh were placed there to remind us that we need God. So many of us think we have the answers and that we can find a way to come out of our own sins or fight our own battles, but I am a living witness that no matter what type of degree you have, how much money you make, how independent you are, or how strong you are, you will fail without God. We are too weak to fight our own battles. We need Him; we must totally surrender our wills and our ways to Him and ask that He step in and guide us as we follow His plan for our lives. This is the only way out of those things that have you bound and weak. Give your situation to God so that you can arise and walk into your destiny.

Is There a Doctor in the House?

Webster defines pain as, “hurt felt in the body or mind.” I’m amazed at how such a small word with a simple definition can cause so much permanent damage in our lives. We have all experienced some form of pain; some of which we have recovered from and some of which we have pushed deep down into our souls, in hopes that it would just become numb or we would just learn to tolerate it. What we fail to realize is that when you store something, it does not go away. Depending on what you store, it will sit and become stale, rotten, old, or useless. I can recall placing leftovers in the fridge and going out of town, only to return and find old, molded food, which was not a pleasant cleaning experience. The longer you let something bad sit and rot, the harder it is to clean out the container. That container is symbolic of our hearts....
