Introduction (p. v-vi)

 ,Hable de las Tiras Cómicas includes 50 reproducible, uncaptioned cartoons. There is an attempt at humor in most of the comics. Some are more serious. Hable de las Tiras Cómicas can be used with all age groups and all levels. Hable de las Tiras Cómicas is sure to get your students talking and laughing. There is no order the way the cartoons are presented in the book. The cartoons are not graded. There is no real correct method for using the comics. A creative teacher will realize the almost endless possibilities for exploiting these flexible materials. Here are a few hints: * use an overhead projector and show tranparencies

* give each student a photocopy of the cartoon
* tell the story (achieved many ways: as a class, in groups or in pairs)
* give it a title
* discuss the 5 Ws
* make lists: words, verbs, nouns, adjectives, phrases, etc.
* give characters names
* practice pronunciation and/or spelling
* discuss moods and feelings of characters
* discuss personal responses to the cartoons (e.g. like it or not, similar experiences)
* prior to viewing cut out each frame and get students to put the story in proper sequence
* give a dictation
* do role plays
* write a dialogue
* write out the story
